ABOUT THE BAND

Each member was specifically sought out by Galen to create, without a doubt, a group that could be considered Canada’s jazz all stars. With credits and backgrounds ranging from Berklee degrees, to founding members of some of the top acts to come out of Toronto, to international accolades, these guys can straight out play.

Their chemistry and abilities is blaringly evident whenever they share a room and better yet a stage. Don’t miss your chance to see these guys live!

Matt Horner – Keyboardist

Matt is an accomplished and creative musician whose career spans 4 decades. This is evident in his musical style, which reflects his jazz, blues, r & b and rock roots.  Matt is also recognized composer whose collaborations have been nominated for multiple Juno awards.

Michel Medrano Brindis – Drums & Latin Percussion

Michel was born in Havana, where he earned a reputation as a talented drummer and percussionist. Since arriving in Canada in 2009, he has juggled various projects with flair, from jazz to salsa, not to mention a collaboration with rapper Def 3 at the Olympic Games in Vancouver. 

Richard Underhill – Alto Sax

Richard Underhill’s warm alto sound, great writing and arranging skills and in-from-the-outside soloing make him one of Canada’s most distinctive jazz performers. He won a 2003 Juno Award for his jazz debut ‘Tales from the Blue Lounge‘ and was nominated for the Prix du Jazz at the 2003 Montreal Jazz Festival.

Lukas Kytnar – Electric Bass

Lukas has a long history of playing in rock and jazz bands. At the age of 18, he moved to Prague, where he attended the Jazz Conservatory and performed in various bands and touring projects.
